Some can find luxury without leaving home. For Covington resident Vikki Leftwich, finding luxury is as easy as a waltz to her own master bathroom. The room's roman bath design is simplistic, yet breathtaking. It features wall-to- wall marble in a soothing cream color. When I say wall-to-wall, I mean that literally; the marble flows on walls, floors and vanities, giving an elegant and peaceful feel to the space.
The centerpiece of the area is the "tea for two" Jacuzzi tub, which is perfect for soaking and relaxing at the end of a long day. Flanking the enormous tub are his and hers showers, featuring water heads that jut out from different locations within the marble.
What makes the space unique, however, is the absence of any partition walls or doors. The entire bathroom is open, providing an expansive feeling of freedom, which was exactly the feeling Vikki and her husband Bryan Colwell were looking for when they designed the room. "I am claustrophobic and I didn't want any doors or anything confining around me," said Vikki.
As owner of the long-time popular Villa Vici home furnishings and design shop, Villi is surrounded by beautiful pieces of art and furniture on a daily basis. When it came to her own home's design, however, she said that luxury was better found in the absence of clutter. "We are very much minimalists, and simplicity was the main focus for us," she
asserted. So, for someone who just about has it all, think along the lines of simplifying. Sometimes it's what you don't see that's the best gift of all.
